Dr. Leroy Hood awarded the U.S. National Medal of Science

Biologist, Dr. Leroy Edward Hood (2002 Kyoto Prize Laureate in Advanced Technology) was awarded the U.S. National Medal of Science on February 1. He was given the medal by President Barack Obama himself at a ceremony held at the White House. Dr. Hood was selected for pioneering spirit, passion, vision, inventions, and leadership combined with unique cross-disciplinary approaches resulting in entrepreneurial ventures, transformative commercial products, and several new scientific disciplines.
