Dr. Masaki Kashiwara , the 2018 Kyoto Prize laureate in Basic Sciences, was awarded the Abel Prize, which recognizes mathematicians with extraordinary achievements. Congratulations on the great honor!
The Prize recognizes “for his fundamental contributions to algebraic analysis and representation theory, in particular the development of the theory of D-modules and the discovery of crystal bases.”
The Abel Prize is an international award from Norway that recognizes pioneering scientific achievements in mathematics. It has been awarded annually since 2003. As one of the most prestigious prizes in the mathematics field, it is often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of mathematics.” Among the laureates of the Kyoto Prize, Dr. Mikhael Leonidovich Gromov (2009) and Dr. László Lovász (2021) have also been honored with the Abel Prize.
