Dr. Takeo Kanade Receives the John Scott Award

Dr. Takeo Kanade , the 2016 Kyoto Prize laureate in Advanced Technology, received the John Scott Award. The Award is presented to the individuals who contribute to the “comfort, welfare and happiness” of humankind. Congratulations on the great honor!

According to the announcement from the Board of Directors of City Trusts , Dr. Kanade’s work led to a wide range of advancements based on the use of computer vision.  Later, his work led to advancements in the field of computer assisted surgery featuring robotic cameras.

The past winners include historical figures such as Hideo Noguchi (1920), Marie Curie (1921), Thomas Edison (1929), and Alexander Fleming (1945), as well as the Kyoto Prize laureates: Dr. George H. Heilmeier (1996), Dr. Alfred George Knudson, Jr. (1999), Dr. Mario Renato Capecchi (2002), Dr. Daniel Hunt Janzen (2003), and Dr. Masatoshi Nei (2017).
