Kyoto Prize is an international award of Japanese origin, presented to individuals who have made a significant contribution to "the development of science and civilization" and "the enrichment of the human spirit." Kazuo Inamori founded the Inamori Foundation in 1984 based on his life philosophy, and the first prize was awarded in 1985.
