William Kentridge who has been acting based in Johannesburg, South Africa as a hub was presented the Spanish prestigious award, “Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts.”
The awards are established to extol those who contribute to promote the scientific, cultural and humanistic values that form part of the universal heritage of humanity, and presented every year in eight categories: Arts, Communication and Humanities, International Cooperation, Sports, Social Sciences, Literature, Technical & Scientific Research, and Concord.
Using the laborious process of filming, frame by frame, a series of ceaselessly changing charcoal and pastel drawings, Kentridge has injected the traditional technique of drawing into diverse media, including animation, video projection and stage set design. He has created a new contemporary vehicle of artistic expression within which various media fuse together in multiple ways.
William Kentridge has been enthusiastically working in the wide range of artistic activities such as Installation, Puppet show, Opera, and successful as Actor or Director as well.
