KPLs win Order of Culture

Ms. Fukumi Shimura, a dyeing and weaving artist and the 2014 Kyoto Prize laureate in Arts and Philosophy, was selected as a recipient of the Order of Culture. Dr. Yoshinori Ohsumi, a molecular cell biologist and the 2012 Kyoto Prize Basic Sciences laureate, was selected as a recipient of the Person of Cultural Merits. Dr. Shigetada Nakanishi who has been guiding Kyoto Prize Selection and Dr. Yasuharu Suematsu also selected as a recipient of the Order of Culture. Awards of Dyeing and Weaving Field and Optical Communication and Technology Field are firstly given historically.
