Dr. Yamanaka awarded the Breakthrough Prize

Medical Scientist, Dr. Shinya Yamanaka (2010 Kyoto Prize Laureate in Advanced Technology) recently received the inaugural Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences along with a cash reward of US$ 3 million. The prize was founded by top U.S. business executives: Mark Zuckerberg, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Facebook, Inc., Sergey Brin, Co-founder of Google, Arthur D. Levinson, Chairman of the board of Apple Inc. and others, to recognize excellence in research aimed at curing intractable diseases and extending human life.
Dr.Yamanaka’s selection reflects the development of technology for generating Induced Pluripotent Stem (iPS) Cells.
