Medical Scientist, Dr. Shinya Yamanaka (2010 Kyoto Prize Laureate in Advanced Technology) recently received the inaugural Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences along with a cash reward of US$ 3 million. The prize was founded by top U.S. business executives: Mark Zuckerberg, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Facebook, Inc., Sergey Brin, Co-founder of Google, Arthur D. Levinson, Chairman of the board of Apple Inc. and others, to recognize excellence in research aimed at curing intractable diseases and extending human life.
